The Last Pair

Hi everyone. I know its been a while since I've posted something new, but school has been occupying my time. It's funny how I was so excited to start school and now I'm ready to finish. Even though school is my main priority,I'm trying to balance it with free time as well. This past weekend I used some of my free time to go "browse" in the mall and get some dinner. I wasn't planning on getting anything honestly, but my mom wanted to look in Dillard's for a few things. Keep in mind the mall closes at 9 pm but we didn't get to Dillard's until about 8:30. This didn't stop us because you'd be surprised at what you can find under pressure (my dad was ready to go). The store was having a forty percent off sale from the lowest ticketed price, so we couldn't miss out. We made our way to the shoe department (after a few stops) and I wasn't expecting to find anything. However, I spotted a gorgeous pair of BCBG heels on the sale rack and even though they were a size 6, I was going to"make it work".Further down the row tucked in the back was a size 5 1/2. Now I definitely had to get them because they were the only pair left. When there's a sale like this you can't leave anything behind. Not only were these good quality shoes, but they were marked down significantly. The original price was $139 (no thanks), marked down to about $48 plus forty percent off. So, I only paid about $30 for these amazing heels. The dark olive is a great color to transition into the fall. Keep scrolling and check out the whole outfit.

"Speak Miracles" Romans 10:8-10

8 "But what does it say?'The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

Do you have dreams and goals? Everyone does and everyone wants them to become a reality. The key to making realities is to speak them into existence. With God,we must have confidence and most importantly, faith in order to make these dreams happen. He never said the process would be a breeze , but it's worth while to persevere. All God wants is for us too be obedient to Him and trust the path that He has for our lives. We have to filter out the ones that aren't supportive of our goals and don't want to see us succeed. These people shouldn't be apart of the support system because they will only hold us back from the plans God has for us. Remember we can do all things with Him and we must speak/think positively.

OOTD Family Style

Welcome back! We are getting closer and closer to fall so I'm trying to wear all the bright colors I can. This past labor day weekend I spent some quality time with my family and opted for a dressy casual look.Sometimes you just feel like channeling your inner diva. Two of my cousins were looking oh so fashionable as well, so I had to share their style. Keep scrolling and check out the details.

Pretty In Pink

To keep the look more causal I paired this peplum top with some denim jeans. I would have preferred white jeans even more, but I'm still on a quest for the right pair. For extra glitz I added some sparkly flats. You can also add a slim belt like the one below to cinch the waist.

Jeans- Old Navy
Flats-Ross
Belt-from another outfit (similar one at Forever 21)

Military Street Style
Chris choose an edgier look this weekend with army pants and a black snap-back. This look is great for a concert, cook-out, or casual day out. The weather is still humid,so a tank was the best option.

Tank-Thrifted
Pants- H&M
Shoes- Polo from Journey's
Hat- H&M
Transitional Lenses- Ray-Bans

Light and Whimsical

Last but certainly not least, Courtney was fun and airy in this white high-low dress. Jackets are always a great way to add layers to your outfit. If you love height like me, wedges would go well with this look too.

"Strength" Isaiah 40:29

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."(NIV)

Interpretation
Do you ever feel overwhelmed and in over your head? I definitely have.We often forget that there's someone right there to help us along the way. Who? God of course. He is our biggest supporter and will never let us down. Have confidence in Him and yourself. Whenever we feel weak, scared, or discouraged, all we have to do is pray to him in faith and let Him take control.

Summer Favorites

Welcome back to my blog. Since summer is coming to a close, I wanted to post my favorites of the season. I'm actually happy that summer is ending because fall and winter are my favorite seasons, plus my clothes seem edgier. Continue reading and maybe you'll like one of my favorites as well.

 FASHION
This outfit is my ultimate go to for the summer because it's so comfortable and airy. Summer dresses are so easy to wear casually with sandals for a shopping trip or jazz up with heels for a semi-causal wedding. The pastel colors along with the pattern help the dress stand out. I also love to pair my jean jacket with it just for some added dimension.

Floral Dress: Belk's
Platform Wedges: Nine West

My next fashion item is this black cross shoulder. I wore this just about everyday because it always went with my outfits. My favorite part of this bag is the studded details on the bottom that adds an extra element to any look. I tried so much over the summer to carry less items in my purse and this bag was really helpful. Its spacious enough to carry everything you need, yet small enough so you can't fit your whole life in it.

BEAUTY

The first item in the beauty category is perfume. I started running low on my other perfume so I decided to try a small bottle of the Mary Kay's Simply Cotton. It has a very fresh clean scent (I guess that's why it's called simply cotton). I will say that it doesn't last throughout the whole day but if you prefer light scents this is a good option. This perfume is overall a great buy.

Its safe to say that I am no makeup expert or guru, but I do a well enough job not to look ridiculous when I step out of the house. I've tried out some different things and the following items are my current favorites. I recently got a sample sized Buxom mascara from Sephora and it lengthens my lashes really well without clumping them up. The retail price is $19, so I'm more than likely going back to Maybeline when I run out. The next item is the Sephora eye shadow in the shade "milestone #17"(used with the small eye shadow brush). I really like this shade because its neutral but it adds extra shimmer to my face when I'm feeling fancy. The last item is the black dip brush liquid eyeliner. I'm starting to master the winged eyeliner and this is great because the color shows up really well without fading.

I've been exploring to see what products work best for my hair in its natural state. My hair seems to respond best with these three items. The Shea Moisture product has a really thick consistency so a little goes a long when your using it. It works best for me when my hair is wet and it adds plenty of moisture (hence the name) while helping to detangle. The Aunt Jackie's defining custard lives up to the name. It always gets my hair super defined and the lavender smell is amazing. The last thing I use is argan oil because it gives my hair extra shine and moisturizes my scalp. Most oils (coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil etc.) do the same thing. I love the agran oil best and I use a little everyday to refresh my hair. I use all of these products after I've washed my hair and add more styling product every couple days (you don't want product build up,trust me).

The first nail polish doesn't really say summer, but I love the shimmery iridescent color it gives off. The second polish is a great pastel blue that matches every outfit (in my opinion) because the color is so light. Lastly, this last polish works as a base and top coat for your nails. My nail polish never last longer than a week, but this helps keep them shiny.

SNACKS
I'm literally eating this combination as I'm typing. Healthy eating is not something I do all day everyday, but I do strive to eat healthy meals. This little snack is a step in the right direction. Yogurt has always been a favorite of mine and I recently tried it with granola (life changing). I stumbled across this brand of yogurt because someone decided to buy all of the Chobani yogurt; and I'm glad they did or I never would have tried honey vanilla yogurt. Its really creamy and great when I want something a little sweet.

Bear Naked: Wal-mart
Greek Gods Greek Yogurt: Wal-mart

MUSIC

My final favorite of the summer is the album Mali Is by Mali Music. I'm just going to be honest and tell you that I'm slightly obsessed with this album (I listen to it almost everyday). I first discovered Mali a few years back at a concert and I didn't even like him. What was I thinking? After listening to the songs a few times, I was hooked. I patiently (sort of) waited for his second album to release earlier in the summer. The wait was worth the while because his lyrics are so in depth, inspiring, encouraging, and poetic all in one.

"Love" 1 John 4:7-8 & James 3:5

7"Dear friends, let us love one, another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.8 Whoever does not love, does not know God, because God is love."
5"Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark." (NIV)

Interpretation
This past Saturday my grandmother talked about the subject of love. Sometimes we don't realize how much words can hurt a person. Its a lot easier to say you love God more than it is to say you love a person that you don't care for.Someone can seem alright on the outside but you never really know what they nay go through within. Therefore we should refrain from judgement towards others. Consider someone's feelings before blurting a comment or use a nicer tone and maybe the response will be more positive. As Christians its important to remember that friendliness is always more warming. Its not our place to judge or condemn a person because our job is to draw others with love and let God handle the rest.
