Weekend Wedding

Hi everyone! Last weekend I attended a beautiful wedding with my mom. The weather was perfect and the bride was gorgeous.

I purchased this shift dress a few days prior on sale and figured it was perfect for the occasion. An x-small would have been perfect but I'm not super picky when there's a sale going on. A simple belt cinched in some bagginess. Shift dresses are great for formal and semi-casual events. My favorite part about this particular dress is the lace detailing at the top and floral pattern; a perfect transition to spring.

"Prove It" Psalm 103:1-2 KJV

1."Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits"

The Lord has done some many wonderful things for us, so why not thank Him? He appreciates our verbal gratitude and praises. When that moment is all said and done, we can't forget to show Him our gratitude. Usually if a person does something nice for us, we thank them but probably forget the moment and move on. Words are nice but actions speak louder. Let's put our thanks to action. When God blesses you, pay it forward and be a blessing to someone else. Our purpose is to serve Him and share His love. Don't you want share that feeling of love and gratitude?

Birthday OOTD

Hi everyone. I was blessed to celebrate another birthday this week, the big 2-0. Some people think 21 is a major milestone, but I think 20 is pretty awesome too. Unfortunately I had accounting class on my birthday, but I was able to spend quality to with my family and get a manicure (must-have).

The birthday weather was great, so I decided to bring out the leather pants. For some extra fierceness, I added my cheetah print top and tucked in the side to show the zipper detailing on the pants.

"Sincere Prayer" Matthew 6: 6,8 NLT

6." 'But when you pray, go away by yourself, the shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. 8. ...for your father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!' ".

We all have daily routines that we stick to, and prayer should be one of them. However, routines can become robotic and we don't want our prayers to be that way.Prayers should come from the heart with sincerity and honesty. After all He knows what we're thinking so there's no point in hiding. Often times life can get hectic (I can testify to that). Let's try to simplify our surroundings when we pray to weed out distractions. It's a time for one on one interaction with God.

Neutral Kinda Day

Welcome! It's been a while since I've posted, but I'm still here. College life is quite the whirlwind, but it's all worth it in the end.
When I'm in a rush and can't decide on an outfit, neutrals are my go-to. For this day, I choose a speckled cardigan and paired them with comfy booties.

P.S. Check out my red velvet cookie recipe for a sweet treat on Valentine's Day!

"Honey after the Hunt"
Judges 14:5-6,8 (NLT)

5 "...a young lion suddenly attacked Samson near the vineyards of Timnah. 6. At that moment the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him, and he ripped the lion's jaws apart with his bare hands. He did it as easily as if it were a young goat. 8. Later, when he returned to Timnah for the wedding, he turned off the path to look at the carcass of the lion. And he found that a swarm of bees had made some honey in the carcass."

Last night I heard a sermon based off of this passage. The speaker spoke about facing our lions. As believers of Christ trials are inevitable. However, we can conquer the lions in our lives and come out on the winning side. God will turn our bad situations into a sweet blessing and testimony. He has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, LOVE, and sound judgement. Let's use our weapons of prayer and faith to slay our lions.

Stay Chic and Happy Valentine's Day!

Curls and Pattern

Hey everyone, the curls are back for now. I'll probably change it up again for my birthday(coming soon f.y.i).
I absolutely love pattern and when I found this skirt on the sale rack, it had to be mine. The combined colors just make the pattern stand out. Try accessorizing with black or another neutral color to make your pattern the focal point.

"In the Wilderness"
Nehemiah 9:19-21 NLT

19"But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the what through the night. 20 You sent your good Spirit to instruct them, and you did not stop giving them manna from heaven or water for their thirst. 21 For forty years you sustained them in the wilderness, and they lacked nothing. Their clothes did not wear out, and their feet did not swell!"

We've all experienced a point on our lives where we've felt lost or helpless. In times like these, God knows exactly what we need when we need it. We can survive in our darkest times with strength from Him. When you feel tired,run-down, or broken, look to God to carry you through.

The Black Hat

Hi everyone and welcome back. I don't wear hats to often because they won't fit over my curly hair. Floppy hats are in for the winter, so I gave it a try while my hair was still straight. Black is always a classic route to take and I love black leather in particular. This specific jacket is my favorite because of all the gold details and its perfect for the Southern cold.

"Show Off" Matthew 6:1-2 NLT

1."Watch put! Don't do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. 2. When you give to someone in need, don't do as the hypocrites do blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get."

When's the last time you were recognized for a good deed? The truth is it doesn't matter. God isn't concerned about who sees you doing good for others. It's pointless to help someone out just to turn around and boast about it with other people. This isn't what pleases Him. He wants us to show sincerity towards others even when there is no audience to applaud you. God's not impressed when our main goal is recognition, He sees past the facade. Kindness has to come from our heart. If we have God in our hearts, why not share it with others?
